ALT lesson plans that I use may be of interest to new and experienced ALTs alike. The majority of the ALT lesson plans on this site are based on games that you may well be familiar with.

These lesson plans work for me and are simply my take on the games that I base my lessons on.

My philosophy on teaching is based on being able to facilitate fun lessons. What the teacher teaches is not necessarily what the student learns. If I can help the students to enjoy "English time" and possibly learn something, then I have succeeded. To this end, the Pirates game is probably the most successful game that I use.

Playing games without burdening the students with numerous sheets of paper is my preferred lessons style. I feel students have more fun this way and it's better for the environment too.

Despite what I've just said, I do have lessons where I distribute handouts to the students at Junior High School. Although the majority of my lessons are handout free.

The elementary lessons I use are heavily game based. If this doesn't fit with your teaching style perhaps my site will be of less interest to you.

Check out the ALT lesson plans on the right for some complete lessons that I often use. You may well recognise them from your own childhood.

As an English teacher in Japan I have found that recycling tried and trusted games from back home works really well. That's what I am attempting to show at ALT Lessons.
